CASTLE IN ROCCA CALASCIO
Suspended between sky and earth to 1500 meters altitude, up to a few decades back the more elevated inhabited center of Abruzzi, Rocca Calascio, today, alive only of its ghosts.
Its unbelievable position, here, aloft among the mountains, doesn't allow anymore intersection with ours today's human routs. Its history belongs by now all to the Middle Age, a dilated middle age, lasted on the Abruzzi mountains since almost to the thresholds of ours ages. (Giovanni Tavano: Abruzzo una terra da scoprire)
The octagonal church of S. Maria della Pietà it seems that was built on sketch of the Bramante. The inside, of solemn suggestion, preserve a magnificent Baroque altar.
